Why Volunteer?
Northlands is a charitable Organisation based in Derry/Londonderry, specialising in the treatment of addiction-related issues. We are a grass roots charity that began over 50 years ago through the power of ordinary people hoping to help change people’s lives. Northlands is only here today because of the amazing volunteers who dedicated their time, skills, expertise and lives to making a difference.
Today Northlands would not run without the help of dedicated and determined volunteers who lend a hand in every aspect of Northlands from admin support to holistic care and supervision as well as fundraising. Offering a vital contribution which in turn allows us to offer a high quality specialist service in our community at no cost to the service user.
Volunteering can be an extremely rewarding experience and many feel like they are giving back to a place that gave them hope, change and the tools to live a happier life. As a volunteer your time will make a positive difference to the lives of our service users and to the lives of their families.
Volunteering is a great way to make new friends, meet people from all walks of life and learn new things. It is also said to create a sense of pride and self worth as people know they are giving back and supporting a worthy cause in their community. You may also have the opportunity to use your expertise, skills and experiences which will bring so much to our organisation.
What volunteering opportunities do we provide at Northlands?
Fundraising
Gardening
As a local charity we have to pay companies for gardening and outside maintenance. We welcome anyone with green fingers to come and brush up, weed, cut hedges and clean up.
Events
A few times throughout the year we need help with events. From volunteering at our information stands, to being a marshal at an event or handy out flyers.
In the centre
We have some opportunities for volunteers to help out in the centre with admin, supervision and we welcome anyone who can help out with holistic care eg. reflexology etc
Volunteer your services
As a local charity we are always grateful when a business offers their services. Services volunteered or as a donation help us to save funds to be used in treatment. We welcome any service from gardening, maintenance, window cleaning, building work, electrical, plumbing, goods, supplies, digital support and cleaning.
Who can volunteer
Anyone can volunteer, if you are able to commit a few hours a week on a regular basis or a few hours for one or two events per year we would love to have you onboard! Volunteers should be over the age of 16 years.
